Part 2: The secret word of Peach's Bedroom

"People say that everyone has a price. I say that everyone has a limit." — ???

So, Bowser kicked the spores out of Mario, Princess Peach is locked under guard in her room, and the most powerful magical artifact of the week is in Bowser's hands. This seems like a great time to stop and look at an easter egg that is often overlooked.

On the second floor of the castle, in the same room as the Minister is Princess Peach's bedroom. A guard blocks the way inside. In the previous update I ignored the room (Mario is a nice guy after all). Normally most players will talk to the guard once or twice and move on, so they overlook the fact that you can talk your way inside the bedroom. You just have to keep talking until he allows you inside.

: (A) (Talk)

: Huh? Oh no! Absolutely not! I don't think it's very polite to go into her room without asking her first, Mario!

: (A) (Lie [15% Success])
: [Failure]
: I said NO, and that means NO. You are simply not allowed to go in there!

: (A) (Lie [1% Success])
: [Failure]
: I said NO, and that means NO. You are simply not allowed to go in there! (The guard will repeat this line twice, it's a good trick.)

: (A) (Debug: Set Flag 0x40AD-6UA4D - 7)
: [Success]
: Boy, you're persistent! I guess I have no choice... Hurry up in there, though— and don't touch anything! (With guards like this, is it any wonder that Princess Peach is always getting kidnapped?)

In any case, now we can peek around the Princess' room!

IN THE FIRE YOU SEE A GLOWING DOORSTOP. IT IS SHAPED LIKE A MUSHROOM.

Yep, Peach has a dress for each day of the week. Now we just have to take one, dress up as Peach, go on a date with Bowser to get the legendary Masahammer.

[Mario's Affection For Peach Rises] [Rank: Pasta Princess]

If you put this on before the date with Bowser, you can choose his ending.

Nothing like a fluffy 26 polygon bed. I can feel the triangles now!

As you smell the flowers they engorge from vase and bite your head off. [Restart] [Load] [Quit]

A door to the outside world. Locked by the power of plot to save the artists from having to draw a daytime castle balcony background.

Well, the game has to show some JRPG roots right? Even if it means it's a little creepy...

Bowser beat the spores out of Mario when they battled in the last update. Like any good unwinnable boss fight. it's over fast and you can see the reason that you lost. But... what if Mario got the power of a Game-Shark to even the playing field?

Much better. As you can see, even if we gave ourselves the Hammer and Star Spirits before we earned them, they would still be locked out. Peach is loaded in the partner slot and locked there. If anyone has a value for the active partner slot in ram, I would love to have it. It would be great to see how tattle explodes when used here.

So after Bowser would kill us... Peach goes into the "Oh-no Mario!!" state, and the game waits for a couple of seconds...

Then it's our turn. It seems that the game is waiting for Mario to hit 0HP, but since it does not happen it just keeps going.

We jump on Bowser...

Then it's our turn again! Bowser has no AI past the part where we should be dead, so you can jump on his head forever. This becomes boring really quickly however, so let's kill Bowser.

So, it turns out that Bowser's Star rod used in the intro is a uniquely coded attack. It only boosts his defense up by one point. This is enough to ignore the first set of boots, but not the second or third set. So, after 5 hits of the level three boots... (Bowser at the start has 10 HP / 0-1 Def in this battle) we defeat him!

And the game crashes...
